Making an attempt to craft a good life with my husband Glenn and our two young sons, Huxley Wild and Alistair Kelphy, in a small Western North Carolina mountain community. I find pleasure in the light at dusk, atlases, hard cider, cat antics, dog breath, baby giggles, homemade ice cream, and snorty laughter. I’m the author of 11 books, including the Homemade Living book series which showcase a variety of topics related to small-scale homesteading (including Keeping Chickens, Canning & Preserving, Keeping Bees, Home Dairy, and Home Apothecary), as well as A Year of Pies; Handmade Gatherings; Quench; A Year of Picnics; The Essential Book of Homesteading; and Southern From Scratch. I also do a good bit of freelance writing, both online and in print.
